"WHAT WE BELIEVE"
"Oh, Taste and See
... the Lord is Good!"
WE BELIEVE that the
Bible is the inspired, infallible, and ultimately authoritative Word of
God in all matters of faith and conduct. (2Tim 3:16 and 2Peter 1:19-21).
WE BELIEVE that there is one God, Who is infinite in power, Holy in
nature, attributes and purpose; and that He is omnipotent, omniscient
and omnipresent. (Deuteronomy 6:4, Mark 12:29)
WE BELIEVE
that He
was revealed to us as Father in creation, Son in redemption, and Holy
Spirit in regeneration and empowerment, as well as Comforter and that
His grace never leaves those who trust in him. (Luke 12:12, John 14:26,
1 Cor 8:6, Eph 4:6).
WE BELIEVE that Jesus Christ is the image of
the invisible God; the firstborn of all creation; and that by Him all
things were created, both in Heaven and on Earth, visible and invisible,
thrones and dominions and rulers and authorities - all things have been
created by Him and for Him. (Colossians 1: 15-17).
WE BELIEVE
that He is before all things, and in Him all things are held together,
and that He is the head of the Church; that He is the beginning, the
firstborn from the dead, and that the fullness of the Godhead dwells
bodily in Him (Col 1:17-19).
WE BELIEVE in the fullness and
restoration of the five ministerial offices of the Church, including the
current ministry of Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor and Teacher
(Ephesians 4:11-16).
WE BELIEVE in man's total inability to save
himself through unaided human effort and that repentance from sin and
acceptance of Jesus Christ is vital (1John 1:9 and John 6:37); and that
salvation is a gift of grace (Ephesians 2:8-10 and Romans 3:23-24).
WE BELIEVE that man fell from grace through disobedience (Romans
5:12,19); and that the new birth must be experienced in order to become
a child of God (John 3:3 & 2 Corinthians 5:17; Jeremiah 31:1; & John
1:8-10).
WE BELIEVE in a daily Christian life (Thessalonians 5:23
& Hebrews 6:1, Romans 12:2).
WE BELIEVE in the Baptism of the
Holy Spirit (Acts 1: 5,8 and Acts 2: 4).
WE BELIEVE in the
Spirit-filled life (Romans 12:1,2 and Galatians 5:16,25).
WE
BELIEVE that we should be moderate in all things (Philippians 4:5); and
not allow our freedom in Christ to cause another believer to stumble
(Romans 14:21).
WE BELIEVE in water baptism (Romans 5:12-21 and
Acts 2:41).
WE BELIEVE in the institution of the Lord's Supper (1
Corinthians 11:23-31).
WE BELIEVE in Church relations and civil
government (Hebrews 10:24-25 and Romans 13:1-4).
WE BELIEVE in
the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit (Romans 12:6-8, Galatians
5:22-23 and John 15:8).
WE BELIEVE in divine healing (James
5:14-16 and Matthew 8:17).
WE BELIEVE that every Christian will
stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ to GIVE an account of His
stewardship of earthly life (1Corinthians 3:11-15 and 2Corinthians
5:10).
WE BELIEVE in the personal return to earth by Jesus Christ
to establish an earthly kingdom for 1,000 years. This thousand-year
period is known as the Millennial Reign of Christ (Revelation 19:20-21
and Revelation 20:1-4).
WE BELIEVE in the bodily resurrection of
the saved and the unsaved; one to eternal life and the other to eternal
damnation (John 5:28-29).
WE BELIEVE that every sinner will
appear before God and the Great White Throne Judgment to account for the
deeds done in this life as recorded in the Books (Revelation 20: 11-15).
Those whose names are not found in the Book of Life will be thrown into
the Lake of Fire.
WE BELIEVE in a real place called Heaven and a
real place called Hell (1Corinthians 2:9, John 14:2-4, Revelation
20:10-15, Revelation 21:1, Revelation 4:1-2, Isaiah 67:17, Mark 9:42-28,
2 Peter 2:4 and Matthew 10:28).
WE BELIEVE that the Church is
responsible for evangelizing all nations (Mark 16:15 and John 4:35-38).
WE BELIEVE that tithes and offerings should be GIVEn to support the
work of the Lord (Malachi 3:10 & 2Corinthians 9:6-15)
WE BELIEVE that
God has planned the family as the first institution in the world. It is
composed of people united by marriage, blood or adoption.
Marriage is the union of a man and a woman with the promise of being
faithful to each other throughout life. Marriage is the special gift of
God. Marriage shows the union between Christ and His Church. Marriage
GIVEs men and women the path to an intimate friendship. Marriage is the
mode of sexual expression according to the main beliefs of the
Bible. Marriage is the way for the increase of the human race.
The husband and wife have the same value before God. Both are created
in the likeness of God. The marriage relationship shows the way God
relates to His people. A husband should love his wife as Christ loved
the church. He has a God GIVEn duty to provide, protect and guide his
family. A wife should submit kindly to the leadership of her husband's
service. A wife submits as the church voluntarily submits to the
leadership of Christ. She is made in the likeness of God. Her husband is
also made in the likeness of God. This makes the wife and husband
equal. She has a duty GIVEn by God to respect her husband. She should
serve as his assistant to run the house and support the next generation.
Children, from the moment of creation, are a blessing and inheritance
of the Lord. Parents should show their children the example of God for
marriage. Parents should teach their children spiritual and correct
values. Parents should guide their children to make decisions based on
the truths of the Bible. Parents should guide their children living a
life faithful to God. Parents should guide their children with loving
discipline. Children must respect and obey their parents.
Accordingly, we believe that
with the rise of same-sex "marriage", domestic partnerships and civil
unions, churches regularly face these
marriage forgeries and are asked to recognize these relationships.
The
Biblical definition of "marriage" is found in Genesis 2:22-24 and is the
only legitimate, accepted and recognized definition and form of
"marriage" and sexual relationship. According
to the Holy Scriptures, "marriage" is a sacred institution ordained by
God for humanity and must be between a man and a woman.
No pastor or other member of the church can perform "same-sex weddings"
according to Leviticus 18:22. Church
facilities may not be used for same-sex marriages, civil unions or other
similar functions, even if these civil marriages, civil unions or other
similar functions of the same sex are considered "legal"
by the State of California and/or the Federal Government of the United
States of America.
Where as homosexual, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people are not
our enemies,
but our neighbors whom we love and we desire that they find the
same forGIVEness and freedom that we have found in Christ; now therefore
be RESOLVED that we will strive to love all people, with mercy and
grace, regardless of the naure of each person's sins, and preach the
Gospel of Jesus Christ, with compassion and conviction, independently of
the laws of the state (Acts 4:18-20).
